Using the New
SOQL Relationships in the salesforce.com API
Recently, the
query language used by salesforce.com, SOQL, has been extended to allow queries
to traverse relationships and return related objects in a single API call. In
this technical talk, we will discuss how this greatly increases the power of the
salesforce.com API and how you can exploit these new features in your sControls,
partner products and other API interactions. We will contrast the SQL join
syntax with the new SOQL syntax and show how the two languages differ. A
demonstration of a tool called QueryAmp is given to show how to build these
multiple object queries. QueryAmp is a follow-on tool to the beloved Excel
Connector and adds the ability to query multiple tables and return the data to
Excel for reporting or cleanup.
About the
presenter: Bill Emerson is a recognized expert in the Apex API and leads the
development team for 2 major Salesforce.com products: DBAmp and QueryAmp. He has
worked with the Apex API since 2003 and was a speaker at both Dreamforce 2005
and Dreamforce 2006.
