Adopt-A-Family

The Holidays are approaching and many people are without the necessities to provide for their families.   As a member of the National City Adopt a Family, I have offered to help sponsor a family in need.  Most of the families that we provide charitable gifts for are either homeless or in destitute and can not provide for their families. Our donations will be distributed to the family in December.  With the help from the group, we will reach our goal this year to sponsor 35 families.

History:

The Adopt a Family for Christmas was established in Corporate Human Resources at National City prior to 1996 as part of an employee community involvement project.  The program sponsored one family with two children ages’ 2 and 4 years old living on welfare without the funds to provide a Christmas for her children.  The Adopt a Family contacted the mother and wanted her to know that we will help provide the gifts, toys, clothes and other items that she and her children needed to have a wonderful holiday season.  All gifts were delivered directly to the family and we have maintained that process for the next eleven years. The family really appreciated all of the toys, food and clothing that Program provided for them.  Since then each year we increase the number of families the Adopt a Family would sponsor.

1996-1999, the Adopt a Family program sponsored 10 families with 34 children ages from 6 months old to 9 years old

2000-2003- the Adopt a Family sponsored twelve families with 40 children, ages 1 year old to fifteen.

2004-2007, the Adopt a Family sponsored 50 families with over 200 children, ages 2 years old to 18 years old.

2006 – The committee received the Excel Award.

Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to participate again this year.

Thank you very much!!!
