Great May Meeting

Great turnout for our May 13th meeting!  It was a good mix of regular attendees and new faces. I hope all enjoyed the opportunity to share ideas/questions/solutions and meet some new folks.  THANK YOU! For those of you who couldn't attend, we look forward to seeing you in mid-July.

We had a customer presentation by Kevin Richardson, CRM Systems Administrator at FreemanSalesforce Ideas (A Case Study). As often occurs, success centers around planning and strategy. This one was no different. We'll follow up on this case in 6 months or so and see how things have changed.

It was also announced that Scott Kincaid is stepping down as User Group leader to take a Usability Testing position at Salesforce.com. In the coming weeks Scott and his family will be moving to Northern California. We owe Scott a huge THANK YOU for all of the work he has done to lead and grow the user group. Scott, you will be missed and you are welcome to join us anytime you're back in Dallas.

With Scott leaving it was also announced that Kevin Richardson will assume co-leadership responsibilites working with Laura Hendrix. Kevin is a long time Salesforce administrator and developer and is excited to work with Laura to continue to make the Dallas User Group a collaborative network of Admins helping Admins.

Lastly, Scott gave us a great overview of Analytic Snapshots. No doubt something that in one way or another we can all make good use of.

A BIG thank you to Nancy Simbala with ReachLocal for again providing a great space for us to meet and collaborate.

The next meeting will be in mid-July.  More details to follow in the coming month.  Stay tuned!

Best,

Kevin & Laura

Don't forget the meeting on Monday!

Also, the theme of the meeting has been appended to:
"BYOL" - Bring Your Own Lunch

While our user group has always been fortunate to have Salesforce Partners interested in sponsoring our meetings and providing lunch, unfortunately the recent economic issues have temporarily halted that.  So Monday’s meeting with be a “Brown Bag special”.

That said - Bring your lunch, network with peers, and get ready to hear about all the highlights of the Spring 09 release.  A special thanks to Astadia for providing us with some great presentation material about Spring 09.

Hope to see you there!

Next meeting: Mon March 16th 11:45am-2:00pm

Aaacckkk!  What the heck happened to the Dallas User group folks!??

Well, first of all, my sincere apologies for the delay.  This new economy of ours has required some adjustments with work schedules, family schedules, and (unfortunately!) user group meetings!

That said, we've got our next meeting planned and on the books.  Hope to see you there!

Great turnout for September

Thank you again for those that were able to make it out.  Couple points:

- We had another meeting w/ 45+ folks which led to a number of healthy tangents for various questions and answers!
- During the discussion someone mentioned a .ppt file they found on the internet with a detailed summary for getting ready for the SF Admin tests.  Unfortunately, the file they found is proprietary / confidential to Salesforce (so we are not able to post it on the site!).  My apologies.
- Thank you to Dawn Fichtner and everyone else at ReachLocal for hosting.
- Thank you to Michael Epner w/ Appirio for presenting and sponsoring the lunch.  If you have any additional questions for Mike, please contact him at: mepner@appirio.com.

Some folks have requested the presentation deck we showed, you can access it by clicking this file: Download 2008_09_24_meeting_agenda.ppt .

Also, do not forget about the admin certification program available:
http://www.salesforce.com/services-training/training_certification/. It contains study guides for each certification as well as the FAQ document http://www.salesforce.com/services-training/training_certification/certification/faq_admin.jsp. The best way to get up to speed on the exam content is to take the course. The exam costs are included in the cost of the course.

Thanks again,
Scott Kincaid

What questions would you like covered in a meeting?

If any of you have specific topics you would like covered, or questions you would like to ask the group, please post them to this thread.  In addition, please email your questions to both Laura and I so we can be sure to include them in the next meeting.

In addition, if you have a specific case study you wish to share with the group (very informal, no stress!), again send a note to Laura and I.

Thanks!
