GSP-Force (SalesForce.com) Users Group Meeting on September 24th 2009

Hopefully by now, everyone is aware that our first meeting will be on Thursday, September 24th at the Lazy Goat Restaurant from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
I want to make sure everybody is clear on the intent and purpose of this user group. This user group is not designed to sell SalesForce.com, or any third party application associated with SalesForce.com. Nor is this user group designed to generate a secondary income for anybody associated with the group.

The intent of this user group is to bring the SalesForce.com users here in the upstate of South Carolina together, so we can share best practices and foster community by which we all can benefit by each other's knowledge base and experience with this wonderful application.

The format of our first meeting will be a bit different from the meetings to follow, just because of the fact that it is our inaugural meeting.

From 5:30 PM to 6:00 PM, we will have a meet and greet time with light hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. From 6:00 PM until 6:45 PM, Mike Stone will be our featured speaker. Please see his bio below. Then, from 6:45 PM to 7:30 PM, those of you that would like to stay and discuss the direction of this user group, I will be facilitating and leading this discussion.

I look forward to meeting you all and kicking off this great opportunity of having our own SalesForce.com users group here in the upstate. As always, please evangelize this great opportunity to everyone within your network that you know uses SalesForce.com, or one day may use SalesForce.com.

Greenville / Spartanburg SFDC Users Group Re-Scheduled

Well, one thing I can definitely say I have learned as a result of trying to set up the Greenville Salesforce.com users group meeting, is one should never try to set up a new organization during the summer months. Literally, with just two weeks before the scheduled August 27th kickoff meeting, we just began to gain traction and participation for this meeting.

Given this fact, I think it's in our best interest to delay this meeting by a month and try to have our first meeting at the end of September, not the end of August. Therefore, the August 27th meeting has been canceled.

It is rescheduled for Thursday, September 24th at 5:30PM at the Lazy Goat Restaurant in downtown Greenville. I will be posting another blog with the particulars of the format of the meeting in the weeks to come.

For all of you who have shown interest in this group, I truly do appreciate it. I look forward to speaking with you at our first Greenville, South Carolina Salesforce.com users group meeting, on September 24th at 5:30PM.

Welcome all Greenville / Spartanburg SFDC users

Hi everyone.  My name is Thomas Parry and I am establishing the Greenville/Spartanburg Salesforce.com User Group (GSP-Force).  My goal and intent for establishing this group is to  facilitate an environment where education (solutions and applications) and best practices can be found.

I have been using Salesforce.com since 2002, and can truly say it one of the most powerful, flexible and adaptable applications on the market today.  The implementation of SFDC has dramatically improved my efficiency, communication and performance as well as enhanced many functions of my organization.  It is a well accepted fact though, that as we increase our education and usage of a particular application our satisfaction and success increase exponentially.  You have my 100% commitment that I will foster such an environment.

There are several areas by which SFDC “the company” over the years has amazed me – the  speed by which they bring new technology to market and their understanding and commitment to  education.  These two points alone makes me so excited about establishing this user group.  We will help SFDC educate our user group community on the application, base practices, new release/functionality and many more topics. Given our current economic conditions, remote employees can’t justify T&E costs for training so we are forced to seek out alternative resources like a local users group.  We are very blessed to not only have a local company's using SFDC  but also many remote employees using the application.

Our first meeting will be on Thursday, August 27th at TBA from 5:30pm- 6:30pm.

The agenda for our 1st meeting is as followed:

1.      Introduction and overview of a Salesforce user group

a.       Corporate overview

b.      Other user group’s overview

2.      Discussion:

a.       Determine the mission and purpose of our group

b.      Group structure

c.       Frequency, content, time of day and location of meetings

d.      Nomination of officers

Again, I’m very excited about this opportunity and I trust everyone in the Greenville / Spartanburg area plans to attend the 1st meeting to offer input and ideas as we establish the group.
