Madison User Group (MUG) First Meeting
Today, May 21, 2009, we held the first Madison User Group (MUG) Salesforce.com meeting. We adopted the following charter (We thank the Houston User Group for it):
- This group is run by members for members and open to all users
- This group is not a sales arm of salesforce.com, we invite salesforce and/or their partners at our pleasure to provide benefit to us on the topics we are interested in learning about
- We do not share the membership email list with vendors
- Every member is equal regardless of company size or personal salesforce experience
- For more experienced members please show leadership and share
- For less experienced members please be candid if you need help
We elected to use Linked-in to communicate. Information about this will be sent directly to the members. If you are a member and need more information, please send me an email. (As of today, this has yet to be created).
We decided that 3-4 meetings a year work best. Generally, they will be held quartely, but we will avoid having a meeting around the same timeframe as the Dreamforce conference. The next several meetings are expected to taken place June 2009, Sept 2009, and January 2010. Mark your calendars.
Members prefer the lunch time frame and are OK with any day, but Monday. Everyone agreed that it is best to hold meetings in the middle 2-3 weeks of a month to avoid conflicts with month end and beginning of the month issues at work.
There were several companies that indicated that they may be able to host meetings in the future. The plan is to rotate amongst these locations. The next meeting will likely be held at EVCO Plastics in DeForest.
We are tenatively setting June 19th as the next meeting. The local Salesforce.com Customer Service Success Manager will be giving a presentation about the new features and functions of Summer 09 release. The rest of the meeting will be open forum/general network to help members get to know one another.
One of our members has volunteered to give a presentation for our September meeting. The topic has yet to be determined.
The members introduced themselves at the meeting and we have everything from never used the software to have customized the "snot" out of it. There is a good mix of experience and expertise so we have the potential to really help each other. If you were unable to attend this first meeting, we highly encourage you to attend the next.
First Meeting Notice and Agenda- Make your reservations!
We have had a change in venue for the first Madison User Group meeting. We are now meeting in the "Board Room" at the New Clifton Gunderson (One Financial Plaza) at 8215 Greenway Blvd, Middleton, WI 53562.

Since the location has changed, I suspect that this might alter people's ability to make the meeting, so I ask that you please confirm or re-confirm your attendance by Tuesday, May 19th - If you are a member, just reply to the email announcement. Update: Madison User Group
The work on getting the Madison User group up and running in continuing. We have discovered that there is an employee of Salesforce.com residing in our area that will be of great help to us. We are presently seeking a venue to hold the first meeting - suggestions would be welcome. Realistically, we want to give folks several weeks advance notice, so the first meeting will likely be held sometime after taxes are due.
