Hi everyone,
Below is the list of questions/comments we put in the Parking
Lot at yesterday's meeting. If I have left anything off or you have further
questions please let me know.
· Outlook: Can Outlook sync to categories? Many
customers want to know which Contacts, Events, or Tasks have been marked
for sync and which ones have not. In order to differentiate between the
two, perform the following: 1. Navigate to Contacts (or Tasks or
Events) in Outlook. 2. Go to View | Current View | By Category. This will list
Contacts according to the category they reside in.
When in this view, all Contacts that are in the "salesforce.com"
category are currently marked for sync (all other Contacts are not). When
you unmark for sync the Contacts that are in the 'salesforce.com' category,
they will move to a different category (in most cases "none").
This also works for Tasks and Events.
· Visualforce: What
editions can use it and what is the cost if it's not included? Visualforce is currently available in a
Developer Preview. http://wiki.apexdevnet.com/index.php/Announcing_Visualforce
and go here if you want to register for the preview copy http://wiki.apexdevnet.com/events/visualforce/registration.php.
It should be generally available in the Summer 08 Release around July 2008.
· Mass Converter: https://www.salesforce.com/appexchange/detail_overview.jsp?NavCode__c=&id=a0330000002VEOIAA4.
Mass Convertor provides the missing link when marketing to your existing
Contacts. In the past, there was always the issue where known contacts end up
as leads in your campaign and there was no simple way of matching them back to
contacts on mass. If you have further questions let me know and I'll pass them
onto Jeff Challis who wrote the application.
· Content - AppExchange Partners. We concluded here
that this would be on a per partner basis. If you have a partner you would like
to know about in regards to working with content, let me know and I'll do my
best to find out.
· Spell Checker: Is there a default dictionary it
uses? It
is powered by SpellChecker.net. See image below for further information.
· Sandbox: Apex and a 10MB Sandbox
included in EE at no additional charge. Apex Code is the on-demand
programming language from Salesforce. A Sandbox environment is required
for effective development of Apex. What is brought
across? You can load any data through the API, to a maximum of 500MB
storage in the config-only sandbox. How do you find
it? To
see your sandbox list, click Setup ? Data Management ? Sandbox For more information, see "Managing Your Apex
Sandboxes" in the Salesforce online help.
· Content: $600/user/year ($50/mth). Contact your Account
Executive for further pricing discussion.
· Enable Ideas: To enable Salesforce Ideas for your
organization:
1. Click Setup ? Customize ? Ideas ? Settings.
2. Click Edit.
3. Select the Enable
Ideas checkbox.
4. Click
Save.
· Enable Spellcheck: This functionality
must be enabled by an administrator by clicking Setup?Customize?Activities?Activity Settings and selecting the
Enable Spell Checker on Tasks and Events checkbox.
· Enable Tags:
1. Click Setup | Customize | Tags.
2. Select Enable Personal Tags if you want to allow users to add personal tags
to records. Deselect this option if you want to disable tagging.
3. If you are enabling tags, specify which objects and page layouts should
display a tag section. The tag section is the only way that a user can add tags
to a record. For example, if you only select one or more account page layouts,
users in your organization can only tag account records.
4. Click Save
