October User Group Meeting Update
Thank you to Duane Dyar and PKWare for sponsoring the meeting, and thank you for the support fom SalesForce and our vendor partner CRM Fusion.
Cool software solutions were demonstrated by CRM Fusion that allow administrators to save a lot of time on tasks associated with data quality management. Several options were highlighted to automate many functions involved with importing data as well as cleaning up and standardizing the information in existing databases.
Demand Tools allows an administrator to easily import, standardize and deduplicate data in SalesForce.
PeopleImport is an application released at DreamForce 06 that allows for minimizing duplications when mass lead importing. It also condenses to a single operation the ability to import, dedupe and link data to associated tasks and campaigns.
MassChange is a data manipulation tool that can be used for data base standardization. One example would be to change all Wisconsin entries in the state field to WI.
Zip Fix can allow for the correction and standardization of a state and city based upon the 9 digit zip code.
We had an opportunity to meet our new Customer Success Manager Anne Moore based out of Chicago, and Kevin Smith of SalesForce provided a brief update on DreamForce in San Francisco. Highlights include the ability to view live video sessions at http://blogs.salesforce.com/blogs/. The video sessions are all organized by track. So check it out if you were not able to be there in person.
Community.salesforce.com is a Q&A forum that allows for interaction with other sales force users.
Idea Exchange allows for the ability to port ideas for product changes and offer feedback on what enhancements you would like to see. You can also find information on the Salesforce roadmap to learn about future capabilities.
The Winter ’07 released is scheduled for the December timeframe, and we will discuss the new features at our January meeting. As always your feedback is welcome, so feel free to post any ideas you are interested in learning more about.
Thank you to all who attended and offered valuable input.
Have a great holiday season, and I look forward to seeing you all in 2007!
Renee

July Kick-Off Meeting Re-Cap
A big thank you to all who participated in the Milwaukee User Group Kick-Off meeting! I enjoyed meeting everyone. Based on the feedback received, I feel it was a smashing success and several commented that it was a good use of their time.
Thanks again to Metavante for hosting our first meeting and for all others who offered locations to hold future meetings.
At the meeting, we had presentations from a handful of attendees on their particular implementation of SalesForce with a key focus on features that saved time and improved productivity in their environment. Specific areas highlighted included the ease of setting up reports, creating org charts, mail merges and email templates. Other topics included the use of dashboards and campaigns. This proved to be the most valuable part of the time spent and in addition to sparking a lively discussion among the attendees helpful tips and tricks were shared.
Kevin Smith, the SalesForce Customer Service Manager that supports our area, attended the meeting and added valuable input during the tips and tricks session. He will plan on attending future meetings as his availability permits.
A couple of 3rd party solutions came up in the discussion to enhance the functionality and productivity of SalesForce. OrgView for AppExchange from DreamFactory Software allows you easily and professionally create org charts in Visio when imported from the view hierarchy option in SalesForce. The Sandbox AppExchange was highlighted for easily implementing customized changes.
Another application that seemed to garner a lot of interest among attendees was On-Demand.
Kevin and I will coordinate a resource from On Demand to attend our next meeting and provide a software demo. Also planned for the next meetings agenda is an overview on the new SalesForce release by Kevin Smith.
http://www.crmsuccess.com was also highlighted as a valuable resource for SalesForce users. If you are not aware of it, I highly recommend checking it out.
Following discussion from the group we decided to hold quarterly meetings. Our next meeting will be held in October. More on the exact location and time to follow.
Please send suggestions on topics you would like covered at future meetings.
Please keep the feedback coming and pass the word along to other SalesForce users!
Thank you all for the enthusiastic support, and I’ll see you in October!
Sincerely,
Renee
