Agenda for Q2 meeting:

This will be a virtual meeting. Web and phone information will be mailed to members as soon as a date and time can be secured. (Should be early May).

  1. Charter review for new members
  2. No cost enhancements for Sales application: Tara House
  3. Wall Street Journal: Bill Doane
  4. Set dates for future meetings.

First Meeting a Success

We had our first Newspaper User Group meeting at Dreamforce and it was successful. Here are the highlights

Introduced the Co-Chairs and those in attendance
- Co-Chairs are Bill Doane, Dow Jones, Matt Evans, Tribune Company, Tom Helling, New York Times, Tara House, New York Times and Gary Thorne, Freedom Communications.
- 20 attendees from newspaper customers, consultants and saleforce.com.

Established the Newspaper User Group Charter
- We will share best practices in configuring the system, use of functionality and working with staff.
- We will share experiences with various SFDC tools, new releases, App Exchange applications and related tools.
- We will network virtually, and expect to share a list of members quarterly (Members would need to opt in).
- We will identify areas in SFDC, as an industry, that could be enhanced or improved.
- We will ask Salesforce to give updates specific to media on new releases and enhancements.
- We will discuss top issues that concern us.
- We will limit membership to Media Company Employees, but we will invite vendors to present as warranted.
- We will have Web/Phone meetings every quarter. One of the 4 meetings each year will be at Dreamforce.

Discussion of User Group Blog (if you're reading this then you already know about the blog)

Open sharing of Issues including:
-AppExchange Apps being used including Dart (proposal creation), Cast Iron (integration between systems), ClickTools (surveys) and Demand Tools (data cleansing/loading).
-Consultants used among the group for initial implementation of SFDC including Astadia, Model Metrics and Bluewolf.
-Ways to talk with each other since most of our meetings will be virtual. There is a Facebook group dedicated to the User Group. We can also use comments on this blog. As mentioned above, we will share contact information if members choose to opt in.
- An application named MediaTrak, created by Bluewolf. There is an area that allows for Premium Position Management working with Opportunities.

Next meeting will be held virtually in Q1 of 2009. Details will be emailed out and posted on this blog.

We are  excited to announce the creation of a User Group for salesforce.com customers in the Newspaper industry.
