Nonprofits NYC

We get together as nonprofit organizations to exchange ideas and best practices, and to learn about resources to improve operations. Give Forward @ Dreamforce program

Through this program, the Salesforce.com Foundation is matching individuals who have specific salesforce.com technology skills with nonprofits that need help with the Salesforce CRM application and Force.com platform. With Give Forward @ Dreamforce, you'll have a fun and rewarding experience while helping a nonprofit increase its social impact.

Please take a few moments to visit the Give Forward Web site and tell us more about your skills so that we can find the most suitable nonprofit for you.  Successfully implemented projects will have an opportunity to be showcased at Dreamforce.

Dreamforce Info for Nonprofits

Droves of Salesforce users will convene on San Francisco on November 17th for four days of learning and fun and we want you there!

Join us November 17-20th at Moscone Center in San Francisco for the cloud computing event of the year, Dreamforce 2009.  Over 600 nonprofits have registered to attend but you can still get one of our remaining $199 passes* while they are available!  To register go to www.dreamforce.com and use the nonprofit code CDNP199.  Once these passes run out you'll only be able to register at the $999 commercial rate.

Why Dreamforce? Here are our top 5 Reasons:

5. Dreamforce begins with a Nonprofit Welcome and Orientation Session where you'll learn how to get the most out of this action packed week and get to meet the Salesforce.com Foundation Team!

4. Get acess to 40+ hands on training sessions and learn those tricks that will reduce your administrative time  and increase your efficacy once you're back on the ground.

3. The nonprofit exclusive track where we will have seven sessions focused on the unique needs of your organization.

2. Connect with hundreds of partners in the expo hall to expand your use of Salesforce beyond the stretches of your imagination.

1. Power of Us Party, meet other nonprofits and network with our community during our Thursday night nonprofit party

Already planning on attending?  Or need an added incentive to sign up?

Show us how your nonprofit uses salesforce and you could be featured on the salesforce.com foundation’s website and win yourself a VIP trip to Dreamforce!

It’s easy – create a quick YouTube video showcasing how your organization uses Salesforce and shoot the link to success@salesforcefoundation.org - due to numerous requests we've extended our deadline to October 31st.  We are looking for the video that best answers the question, “What does salesforce do for nonprofits” with bonus points for originality & fun factor.  To give you an idea, here's a great example video that explains cloud computing.

Give it a whirl – help other nonprofits discover the power you have successfully unleashed for your organization through Salesforce! We appreciate your support of our global nonprofit community.

Learn more at www.dreamforce.com and www.salesforcefoundation.org/dreamforce2009.

Looking forward to seeing you in just a few short weeks!

Your Friendly Salesforce.com Foundation Team

Crystal Reports

Many thanks to Jessie Grenfell for giving us a great demo of Crystal Reports today!
  • Crystal Reports allows for post processing of reports
  • It makes "pretty" reports, with features such as a different color font based on value, and a formula that creates a phrase with the data, and two data combined in one cell
  • Standard report creation wizard, with templates, such as a calendar
  • Usability: Many reports can be created by someone with basic skills. others require custom code, which would require a tech person. It is intuitive for Users to access reports
  • If there is already a report in Salesforce, you can pull the report as a data source from Salesforce into Crystal Reports
  • Tip: Ensure that the information is simple as to avoid problems with reporting in the future
  • Users discussed how they would use CR to enhance reporting at their respective organizations. (using different sources to create reports)

It's possible to get Crystal Reports 2008 donated (this comes with the Salesofrce connector), with a $55 administration fee to Tech Soup. The donation allows up to 10 Users (a $3,500 value)
