Devon Kapler's Presentation on Reporting
I’d like to ask for a big “virtual” round of applause for Devon Kapler for her presentation on reporting in Salesforce.com. In case you missed our last meeting, Devon provided a case study on her work at goAUPAIR, a local agency that coordinates au pair placement with host families. Devon’s presentation is available here:
Sorting Through Reporting - Devon Kapler
Devon is a gifted practitioner of Salesforce.com and her company is truly fortunate to have someone so talented. Thanks Devon!
February Meeting Topic: Sorting Through Reporting
Our next Salesforce.com User Group meeting to be held next Wednesday the 25th at 6:00PM.
Topic: Sorting Through Reporting
Devon Kapler, a seasoned SFDC system administrator, will explore reporting in Salesforce.com. Based on feedback from attendees, Devon will cover a range of reporting topics including:
- Opportunity Report types
- Report Formulas
- Custom Report Types
- Analytical Snap Shots
- Creating Custom Fields to enhance reporting
- Naming Conventions & Organization
Devon has been a Salesforce.com system administrator for 4 years and before that, worked with Enterprise clients on Salesforce.com implementation and enhancement as a representative of Accenture. Devon currently manages Salesforce.com for goAUPAIR.
Meeting Location: LANDesk, 698 West 10000 South, South
Jordan UT 84095.
There are two buildings right next to each other, and we are meeting in
the
taller of the two. We are meeting in conference room 11A. There are
only two
entrances to the building, one on the first floor, and one on the
second floor. If you come in the second floor
entrance, you'll see the elevators and can take those down to the first
floor; if you come in on the first floor you just need to walk past the
reception desk and turn right down the hallway, it's your first door on
the right.

Tomorrow's meeting cancelled
Please accept my sincere apologies for the late notice, but we must cancel tomorrow's scheduled Salesforce.com user group meeting.
We found out tonight that we will not be able to use our planned meeting space. We considered moving the meeting, but given the short notice, the low RSVP rate and the holiday season, we felt it would be better to cancel the December meeting and schedule our next meeting in January.
Scott and I will get together and pick a time/date for the January meeting and post the details. If anyone has a meeting space that we can use as a backup for future meetings, please let us know.
December Meeting
The next Salt Lake City Salesforce.com User Group meeting will
be on Wednesday, December 10th at 6:00PM. Once again, we will have
the meeting at 7090 Union Park Center,
Suite 200.
Agenda:
- Dreamforce recap – a high-level overview of the Dreamforce keynote and general buzz
- Force.com Sites – what are they and how can we benefit from them?
- Force.com for Facebook and Amazon
- Dreamforce user group roundtable – lessons learned from other user groups
We hope to see you there!

First meeting a success!
Wednesday night’s meeting was a great success! We had about twenty people in attendance with a variety of backgrounds and interests.
A special thanks to Brandi Durkac from Salesforce.com for helping us kick things off. I’d also like to thank Scott for his presentation on Winter ’09 features.
Our next meeting is tentatively planned for December 10th, same time, same place (details will follow via email). Our survey did reveal some interest in morning or lunch meetings; however, the majority of respondents and attendees preferred the evening time slot.
In our next meeting, we would love to hear from those of you who plan to attend Dreamforce. In fact, I think the agenda will be full of information from Dreamforce so if you have any requests for coverage of specific topics, please send them our way.
Restarting the Salt Lake City Salesforce.com User Group
It’s been a long time since the last meeting of the Salt Lake City Salesforce.com user group. Since then, the Salesforce.com community has prospered, and we’ve seen major developments in the platform’s features and capabilities. Unfortunately, as local Salesforce.com users, developers and partners, we’ve missed opportunities to connect and share experiences, ideas and strategies.
With Dreamforce approaching, we think it’s a great time to re-launch the Salt Lake City user group.
Our first meeting is planned for Wednesday, October 15th. If you are interested in attending or would like more information, please register using the form on the left. We will contact you with meeting details and information about the group.
Thanks for your interest!
