Appexchange Downloads impacting Tab Limits

Are you approaching -- or at your tab limit within Salesforce?  If so, some options:

  • Contact your account executive (AE) to find out the price for upgrading to a different edition, or purchasing an expansion pak for your current edition.  The expansion pak may only be available for Enterprise Edition customers, but your AE can provide more details.
  • Cast your vote on idea exchange regarding how appexchange downloads are counted.  Here's links to 3 ideas I found.
  • HINT:  Adding comments when you cast your vote gets your vote more "weight" with Salesforce.com Product Managers, and helps get additional votes from other customers.

If you're not at your tab limit, you may want to check out this presentation from our April meeting that highlights no cost (or low cost) packages that are on Appexchange that many customers find to be very valuable.

Wednesday, Sept 16, 2009

7:30-10:00am

Hopefully you already have the meeting scheduled on your calendars because you won't want to miss this meeting.

We have a great lineup of speakers, time set aside for breakout sessions, some great prizes, and FOOD!

·         7:30-8:00:  Arrivals, networking, and continental breakfast

·         8:00-8:15:  Welcoming comments

·         8:15-8:45:  Customer Portal / Partner Portal - Live Demonstration by Red Sky Solutions, LLC

This live demonstration will show you how your peers are using the different salesforce portals, what is involved in setting them up effectively, and caveats to be aware.

  • 8:45-9:15:  Qualcomm's use of the Customer Portal -- and Salesforce Knowledge

We are very fortunate in San Diego to have so many people from Qualcomm in our group and for the use of their great facility for our meetings.  John Snead, Senior Systems Analyst with Qualcomm, will be sharing with us how they handle customer support and how they are using the customer portal for processes beyond just support.  Qualcomm is part of the pilot of Salesforce Knowledge, so John will be giving us a preview of this feature that is not even generally released yet.

·         9:15-9:30:  New Appexchange features

Our special guest will be Sara Varni Bright,  Salesforce.com's customer liason for AppExchange.  Salesforce will be rolling out some new AppExchange offerings and she will be giving us a sneak preview.  If you are new to Salesforce, and not yet familiar with what AppExhange is, a good place to get introduced to this very important part of the Salesforce ecosystem is by going here.

·         9:30-9:50:  Breakout sessions

This part of the meeting is time for more intimate discussion with other members in smaller groups.

Come with your questions!  Here are two that have already been submitted for you to think about.  If you have a good recommendation regarding how you handle these common challenges, please come ready to share it with others.  That's what a user community is all about!

  1. How do you get your sales people to comply with entering data into salesforce as well as just getting them to log-in and utilize the program?
  2. Do you a special way of handling vacation coverage in Salesforce?
  • 9:50-10:00:  Wrap-up and prizes

    LOCATION                  San Diego, California

ORGANIZATION            With more than 14,500 members, Vistage International is the world’s foremost chief executive leadership organization, providing unparalleled access to new ideas and fresh thinking through monthly peer workshops, one-on-one business coaching, speaker presentations from hundreds of top industry experts, social networking and an extensive online content library of articles, best practices, podcasts and webinars.

This top executive network started from very humble beginnings over five decades ago. One October morning in 1957, a Wisconsin businessman named Robert Nourse met with four fellow chief executives in the office of the Milwaukee Valve Company to test a simple, yet revolutionary idea—share knowledge and experiences to help each other generate better results for their businesses.

Soon this group of businessmen was probing, asking questions and making suggestions. They challenged each other, working together to solve issues and grow. At that moment, TEC (The Executive Committee) was born.

Today, Vistage International (TEC’s successor) and its global affiliates operate in 16 countries. Members meet in small groups every month under the same guiding principles—to help one another make better decisions, achieve better results, and enhance their lives. They’re also connecting in ways Nourse could never have imagined, collaborating online, tapping into a vast content library, and learning from hundreds of top industry speakers.

Vistage-member companies generate nearly $300 billion in annual revenue and employ approximately 1.8 million employees around the world. Studies have shown that Vistage-member companies outperform their competitors and, on average, grow their revenues at three times the percentage growth rate after joining Vistage.

And, that’s exactly what Robert Nourse had in mind.

We invite you to visit our website at www.Vistage.com and learn more about the way in which we help our CEOs become better leaders, make better decisions, and achieve better results.

Come join our team.  We’re very excited to meet you!

Salesforce.com User Group Meeting - Fri April 3 @ noon

For our next meeting of the San Diego Salesforce.com User Group, we are moving to a different day of the week, a different time, and a different location

Friday, April 3rd, at the Omni Hotel, downtown - starting at noon.

The theme for the April 3rd meeting will be "Appexchange Applications, Tools, and Components that you can download for Free!"  We will have a speaker or two present free packages that they have made available on the appexchange.  We are also looking to hear from our members regarding what you may have downloaded (for free) that has benefited your Salesforce.com implemented.  If you have been successful using a program, component, or tool that you have downloaded and are willing to share your experience with others, please send me an email at rhonda.ross@audatex.com letting me know of your interest.

Once I hear back from some people, I will send out a more detailed agenda. The ending time for the meeting will depend on how many volunteers we get.  We have the room available to us until 3:00.

Due to the success of our "birds of a feather" breakouts during our last two meetings, we will be doing that again.  We are looking for volunteers to lead discussions on the following topics:

    • Administration - e.g., adoption, data management, change management
    • Service and Support - e.g. case management, SLAs, email-to-case
    • Marketing - e.g. web-to-lead, email marketing, lead scoring, event management
    • Development - e.g. moving from administrator to developer, useful tools

If you are willing to facilitate a discussion on one of these topics, please email me at rhonda.ross@audatex.com.

To RSVP for the meeting, send an email to rhonda.ross@audatex.com

It is important that you RSVP if you will be attending, as there will be a complementary lunch provided so we need an accurate headcount!

Why all these changes?  We wanted to make it convenient for those of you who may want to attend the CRM Essentials Seminar which Salesforce.com will be having at the Omni in the morning.  For further information on this event, please visit the event's website.  If the agenda looks interesting, feel free to register on the salesforce.com site.  However, since this seminar is geared toward people who are brand new to Salesforce CRM or still evaluating their options, you may find the content more “back to basics” than you’re looking for.

Either way, I hope you will be able to make it to the user group meeting and I look forward to seeing you there!
