This one-hour webinar was superbly managed by Pete. Tyler Ziemann gave a crisp and in-depth presentation on the upcoming release of the Salesforce Quoting Module (currently in beta with 30 SF customer testers now). This feature will be available for Professional and up editions. Professional edition users will need to pay an add-on fee for the product price book module with Salesforce. For those of us who have well-defined product lists, this quoting tool is a great addition - begin a quote, find opportunity, find contact, pull in items from the price book, add any notes to the template as needed - and pdf the document to e-mail the customer. Come spring, users will be able to sync updated quotes to opporunities, and in the summer 10 release, users will be able to edit quoting templates to customize the pdfs including terms conditions. Lots of questions generated on the chat screen and Tyler did a commendable job of responding. I would have added the QA thread here but it wasnt saved... Next time! Very informative and in-depth presentation by Tyler in a one-hour segment - time well spent.

This webinar was very good. I was a little disappointed that it has taken salesforce so long to start working on a quoting application. I am also amazed on how simple the system is. You would think there would be more functionality. Plus, it will be released in phases. Really, think salesforce is slow to adopt what the community is really looking for.

I agree with Harry, you are being too critical. This was a nice event and i appreciate your efforts!

I thought both presentations were helpful, but it would be nice to limit the time for both a little tighter, so we can have more interaction time with other users.

Looking forward to the next one!

As the SiliconValley Users Group pro bono moderator, Pete, you are far too citical of your efforts in advancing the groups interests and learnings. Speaking for myself, and surely others in the SVUG, I appreciate all that you do to keep the group active and engaged.

Both presenters gave feature, advantage, benefit overviews of their products. While that may be viewed as a sales pitch, the information was new and relevant to sales and marketing types. The disconnect for me was having two separate meetings - sales and developer - at the same time, so we missed the overall group interaction during the course of the 3-hour event.

I recommend holding future SVUG face-to-face meetings, with one moderator - namely you - and schedule meetings at the end of the day at 4pm for sessions and networking. The late morning/early afternoon schedule is too much of an interruption in the middle of the work day. Meanwhile, the one-hour webinars you moderate are excellent, time-efficient venues for learnings and discussions_____ Harry

Santa Clara Users Group - July 16th, 2009, Webinar

Topics: Forecasting webinar with Angela Pellegrino of LinkedIn and Report Customization example by Pete Fife with
Mirapoint.Well folks,

Pete has kept right on target with his SVUG roadmap for 2009 with todays Webinar. As per his previous
SVUG Webinars, iLinc was the presentation platform used and showed great flexibility for both the presenters, and the
attendees. We really put the chat and feedback features to the test during the one-hour conference. Pete even began the webinar session with a video cam of himself at the controls - whoa fifedog!

Angela gave a an excellent presentation showing how she has created custom objects, custom fields, custom formulas, and validation rules within Salesforce to provide her management the forecasting visibility needed based on the companys defined weighted probabilities for three categories: commit, outlook, and upside. Lots of questions were raised and Angela responded to each and every one. There was also some discussion regarding the companys implementation of on-line contracts using products like docusign, e-signature, and echosign.

Pete then gave us some insight into his method of solving a forecasting report request that he was tasked with at Mirapoint. This discussion touched on the relational objects aspect of Salesforce.com. Pete gave us three possible approaches for solving this reporting problem and provided some excellent insights into the overall process.

Hard to believe that this much information was presented in a one-hour session. As usual, Pete did a fine job of emceeing the Webinar. As much as I enjoy the SVUG face-to-face gatherings, this webinar is hard to beat; its well-focused, very efficient time-wise, and offers great flexibility for presenters and user group members to participate; and, of course we have Pete running it to boot!

Marketbright would love to host a best practices meeting on utilizing marketing automation to optimize marketing and sales working together.
